Braking is a more than important element when transforming your cross or enduro into a Supermotard.

Indeed it is a mandatory safety point, which must be improved when passing your motorcycle from the ground to the road.

For some the choice and the differences between the brakes can prove to be a headache and it is complicated to make the best choice.

We will try to bring you the positive and negative points of each braking and to advise you so that you can decide and make the best choice adapted to your use and budget.

As far as braking is concerned, Royal Motorbike is a reseller of several brands: Motomaster, Beringer, Faor and even Spider accessories.

Motomaster

At Motomaster, a brand made in the Netherlands, you will find several brakes:

- Kit 320mm Motomaster Street

This includes a 320mm disc adapted to your original caliper with an offset paste that allows you to shift your caliper and therefore pass the 320mm disc as well as a pair of new pads (recommended to change when you mount a disc new). This 300€ kit is ideal for small budgets, it allows you to start supermoto on the road but is not efficient enough for track use. The 320 drive will run cooler than your original drive due to its oversized size.

Kit Motomaster Racing Flame 320mm ou 300mm

This Racing kit includes a complete brake assembly with: 4-piston brake caliper, 320 or 300mm disc adapted to the caliper, aviation hose and a suitable master cylinder. The change of caliper for a more efficient caliper allows its use without risk of overheating on the track, accompanied by the flame disc specially designed to improve heat dissipation during repeated braking. It will allow you to have effective braking on the road but also on the track with its powerful bite. Ideal for medium budgets.

This kit is available in 320mm and also in 300mm suitable for 16.5 or 16 inch rims in order to be able to remove the caliper without removing the rim.

For a 17-inch rim, opt for 320mm front braking and for a 16.5 or 16-inch rim for 300mm braking.

Kit Motomaster Racing HALO 320mm ou 300mm

The Halo racing kit is equivalent to the Flame kit except for the Flame disc which is replaced by a Halo disc. The thickness of the disc increases from 5 to 6mm in order to better dissipate the heat of braking. Thus the performance of this kit is improved but reserved for track use.

This kit is available in 320mm and also in 300mm suitable for 16.5 or 16 inch rims in order to be able to remove the caliper without removing the rim.

For a 17 inch rim, opt for 320mm front braking and for a 16.5 or 16 inch rim for 300mm braking.

Beringer

- Kit Top Race

There is only one racing brake kit at Beringer which can be personalized whether in terms of color or size of caliper, disc, etc.

Essential element of this brake kit: the caliper. It exists in 6 axial pistons or 4 radial pistons. The 6-piston axial includes the offset paste and is specific for each motorcycle model. The 4 pistons require an axial fork leg (or an axial radial offset paste) as well as widened crowns so as not to rub the spokes.

The master cylinder is available in two versions. With integrated or separate jar. We recommend the use of an integrated jar to avoid breakage in the event of a fall. For a 6-piston axial, you must opt for a BRO12 or BR12.

The disc is available in 300 or 310mm at Beringer as well as in cast iron and stainless steel. A cast iron disc has the big advantage of little wear even if it takes slightly longer to heat up than a stainless steel disc. We recommend a cast iron disc on this kit. As far as dimensions are concerned, 310mm discs are to be used for 17-inch rims as for 300mm for 16 and 16.5-inch straps in order to be able to remove the caliper without too much difficulty.

Spider

- Adapter Spider

The Spider offset legs allow you to convert almost any axial fork leg into a radial fork leg in order to mount a 4-piston radial caliper (Beringer or Brembo or other brands)

To do this, simply measure the distance between your caliper and your fork leg in order to choose the right size.
