WK121R BRAKING Wave brake disc front left, KTM LC8 Adventure ABS 990
The BRAKING Wave brake discs WK121R have, like all motorbike wave brake discs of the WK generation, a radical design which has many positive features that distinguish them from normal standard brake discs.
Advantages of the WK121R Wave brake disc compared to normal round brake discs
The Wave design not only looks sporty and aggressive - it also has many very positive features:
Optimum braking performance in every situation
The Braking WK121R Wave brake disc convinces with a strong initial braking effect, which, however, always remains well controllable
Self-cleaning of the WK121R Braking Wave brake disc
Self-cleaning: The wave design of the WK121R disc prevents the brake pads from sealing and increases the cleaning process (self-cleaning process) of the brake disc and pads. This self-cleaning is achieved by the outer wave rim of the brake disc.
With each revolution of the wheel, the outer rim of the disc removes the dirt from the surface of the pads. As a result, the brake pad always lies optimally against the brake disc.
Improved heat dissipation with the WK121R Wave brake disc
During frequent, heavy braking manoeuvres, the disc heats up considerably. Because the Braking Wave brake disc has a larger outer surface due to its wave shape, the brake disc can also radiate more heat over this larger surface. This allows the operating temperature to be kept well below the usual values for normal, round brake discs.
The result is: less heat, which means more braking power!
More constant braking effect of the Braking WK121R Wave brake disc
Thanks to a special steel alloy, the disc performs well even when cold. But even under extreme heat conditions, the brake disc always remains very controllable, making the handling of the machine easier.
Lower weight of the WK121R Wave brake disc
Due to the radical milling of the aluminium inner rim (brake disc carrier rim) and the ventilation milling in the running surface of the Braking brake disc, the weight of the WK121R Wave brake disc is significantly lower than that of a round standard brake disc - without losing stability or durability.
Many racing teams worldwide rely on Braking Wave brake discs.
Production of the WK121R BRAKING Wave brake disc front left, KTM LC8 Adventure ABS 990
Due to highest work and product quality as well as most modern materials Braking offers with the WK121R Wave brake disc one of the strongest and lightest steel brake discs on the two-wheel market. Braking brake discs offer maximum braking power with full control.
WK121R Wave brake discs are manufactured in Italy.
Braking engineers have developed a unique, patented special high carbon steel that is exclusively manufactured for Braking. This steel offers an unparalleled high coefficient of friction and mechanical and thermal properties that simple or inferior grades of steel cannot match. This material blend is the ideal starting material for good reliable brake discs with high mileage.
Manufacturing process of the WK121R Wave brake discs
Braking WK121R brake discs are manufactured using the latest heat treatment techniques (to ISO standards) and precision CAD-CAM laser cutting. Quality, performance, durability and safety are indispensable variables when choosing a motorbike brake disc.
Many manufacturers cut back on these very requirements due to cost savings - but at Braking, these factors come as standard!
Successes with Braking Wave brake discs
95 international titles have been won with BRAKING brake discs within the last 20 years! That is a record that speaks for itself!
Note on motorbike brake discs:
TÜV/ABE: 90% of all Braking brake discs have an ABE (TÜV certificate). This document is delivered together with the brake disc. You can also view all certificates in our download area and download them free of charge.
